3D Scanning

With 3D scanning coming of age with the introduction of High Definition Scanners it was something we just had to get involved in. As such after much research and deliberation we decided to stick with our core value of delivering the best possible job and decided to get a Leica Scanstation P30.

By investing in such a high quality scanner it allows us to scan in the harshest environments and capture the highest quality data. This ensures we get the most accurate results currently possible in our field. Ultimately meaning you get the best possible point cloud for your use no matter what your job at very competitive prices.

If you are looking for someone to do a 3D scan and deliver a point cloud for your use in 3D design, you can be sure we are able to deliver you a service and product that you can work with first go. We have an intricate understanding of what it takes to work with scan data and can deliver point clouds that you can work with without having to upgrade your computer or software (typically).

Because we use the scan data on our own projects we know exactly what you need to be able to do your job efficiently and effectively in your software. We are even happy to help train you or your staff on using the point clouds as much as we can on your first job (typically) free of charge. If you are using Autodesk Recap, Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD, we are happy to give you all the information we have to get you up and running as fast as possible. You can even find our tutorial videos on YouTube

Photo what now?

Photogrammetry is a process of creating a 3D model out of a series of photos. Don’t let the simple explanation fool you. While the results can be spectacular, the process is quite a complex one. Our early success gave us a false sense of security. But we stuck it out through the long had learning curve and lots of failures to be able to deliver the goods.

While this process has been around for a few years now the software and reliability has only recently made it commercially viable. If it can’t be scanned there is a good chance we could digitize it with photogrammetry. Like this chook….

While it is one thing to capture the object it can often be another thing to get the resulting model into a usable format. This is where our experience comes in and we can supply you with a 3D model at 1 : 1 scale in a format you can get into almost any 3D software.

Please note that due to the nature of this process there are a lot of limitations to it. We have taken a lot of time to work out what can and cannot be done though and won’t take on a job that we think we can’t deliver a good result on. Feel free to give us a call or shoot us an email if you would like to know more about it.
